Questions about Kids

DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING FOR YOUNG CHILDREN?We love kids! At Breakthrough Church, we have created environments for children 6 months old through five years old.

WHAT DO YOU HAVE FOR KIDS OVER 5 YEARS OLD?We are working hard to create safe and fun environments for all of our young people before our Grand Opening in January. In the meantime, bring them with you into the main service! We are providing our elementary aged kids with age-appropriate activities so they can be in the service with you while enjoying something specifically made for them.

HOW SAFE IS THE KIDS ENVIRONMENT?We take your child's safety seriously, so every staff person in Breakthrough Kids has been properly trained and gone through a thorough screening process, including a background check.

WHEN WILL THERE BE SOMETHING FOR MY TEENAGER?Not only are we building up our kids ministry, but we are working hard to lay the foundation for a youth ministry by the time of our Grand Opening also! In the meantime, we encourage middle school and high school students to attend main worship gatherings. Our worship leader and Lead Pastor both spent most of the past 20 years working in youth ministry, so we think your teenager will love it!

Questions About the Church

WHERE DID BREAKTHROUGH CHURCH COME FROM?Breakthrough began when twenty people formed a "Launch Team" out of New Life Community Church. This team spent several months praying and dreaming about the kind of church that people who don't like church would end up loving. Today, you will see these team members in the form of greeters, tech volunteers, and children's workers at Preview Gatherings. They can't wait to meet you!

WHAT IS A PREVIEW SERVICE?A Preview Service is basically a "Sneak Peek" into the life and vibe of Breakthrough Church. Consider it a "trailer" where you get a taste of what things will be like after the Grand Opening.

WHO IS YOUR PASTOR?Our pastor is Brian Drinkwine. You can find out more about him and his family in the "About Our Pastor" section below.

Personal Questions

WILL YOUR CHURCH ACCEPT ME DESPITE MY MISTAKES?So... you're not perfect? Perfect! You've come to the right place. Breakthrough Church is a different kind of church. You won't feel weird about showing up on a Sunday. That's because we're a judgment free, no-perfect-people-allowed kind of church.

WHAT IF I'M NOT A CHRISTIAN? CAN I STILL ATTEND?Absolutely! In fact, we started this church for you! We believe that you will find Breakthrough Church to be a loving and accepting community, free of judgment or high pressure tactics. So come, sit back, relax, and enjoy yourself.

ABOUT OUR PASTOR

Brian Drinkwine has been pastoring for more than twenty years and arrived in Corona with a vision to start a church for people who are worn out by life and burned out on religion. He has been married to his wife, Sarah, for 13 years and they have two daughters and a dog. Brian and Sarah met in Nashville when she came to pursue the music industry (yes, he married a rock star) and they are passionate about one thing: seeing people experience breakthrough in their hearts, relationships, and every area of their lives.

Prior to moving to Corona, Brian planted a network of house churches in Nashville, Tennessee, and spent more than 15 years in youth ministry. His higher education focused on ancient languages with an emphasis in Hebrew and Christian Leadership. Additionally, Brian has completed a two year graduate church planting cohort through V3 Movement and was a Planter in Residence for one year through the TRAIN church planting residency.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

THE BIBLE. GOD'S STORYThe Bible, composed of the Old and New Testaments, is the divinely inspired Word of God, the final and trustworthy authority for faith and practice, and the story which gives meaning to our existence. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit, is truth without error, and is found today exactly as God intended it to be. The Bible is the supreme authority for faith and practice for followers of Christ.
(Deut. 4:1-2; II Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)

GOD. THREE IN ONEGod has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. God exists in one essence in a perichoresis of three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
(Gen. 1:1; Deut. 6:4; John 4:24, 14; Gal. 4:6; 2 Pet. 1:17; Psalm 2:7; Isaiah 7:14; John 1:1-18; Hebrews 1:8; Psalm 51:11; 1 John 4:13, 5:7; Acts 5:3-4)

THE FATHER. OUR PROTECTORGod is great: He is all powerful, all knowing, ever present, unchanging, completely worthy of our trust, and above all, holy. It is in Him that we live, move, and exist. God is good: He is our Father. He is loving, compassionate, and saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Christ Jesus.
(Exodus 3:14; Numbers 23:19; Leviticus 11:44-45; 19:2; Psalm 11:4-6; Malachi 3:6; John 3:16, 4:24, 5:26, 14:1; Acts 17:28; Romans 3:3-4)

JESUS. OUR HEROThe Son of God, sent by the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, fully divine, fully human, the eternal and pre-existent Word. His death made full atonement for our sins. He lived a perfect life and received punishment for our sins when He died on the cross. He defeated death in His resurrection so that all who trust in Him could have life.
(Is 7:14; 53; Matt 1:18-23, 14:33, 16:16, 28:5-6; Lk 22:70; John 1:1-3, 14; 10:30; Acts 1:9; 2:22-24; 7:55-56; Rom 1:3-4; 3:23-26; 8; 10:4, 2 Cor 5:19-21; Gal 4:4-5; Phil 2:5-11; 1 Tim 2:5-6; 3:16; Heb 1:1-3, 4:14-15, 12:2, 13:8)

THE HOLY SPIRIT. OUR GUIDEThe Holy Spirit, sent by the Son, convicts people of their sin, guides believers into all truth, empowers all who believe in Jesus Christ, and reveals the righteousness of God. The Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, helps, teaches, and guides God’s children into the likeness of Christ.
(Genesis 1:2; Psalms 51:11, 139:7 ff.; Isaiah 6:1:1-3; Joel 2:28-32; Mark 1:10; Luke 1:35, 4:1, 11:13, 12:12; John 15:26, 16:7-14; Acts 1:8, 2:1-4, 2:38, 13:2; Romans 8:9-11, 14-16, 26-27; 1 Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; 2 Peter 1:21; Revelation 22:17)

ETERNITY. SOMEWHERE FOREVERHumans were created to exist forever, whether eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Heaven is eternal life with God and Hell is eternal separation from God. Both are places of eternal existence.
(Matthew 24:29-31; Matthew 25:31-46; John 3:16, 36, 11:26-26; Romans 6:23; 1 Thessalonians 4:14-18; 1 John 2:25, 5:11-13; Rev. 20:4-6, 11-15)

HUMANITY. GOD'S REFLECTIONHumans are made in the image of God and are the supreme object of God’s creation created to have fellowship with Him, but became separated in that relationship through sin. As a result, human beings cannot attain a right relationship with God through our own effort. Every human personality is uniquely created, possesses dignity, and is worthy of respect and Godly love.
(Gen 1:26-30; 2:7, 18-19; 3; Ps 8:3-6; 32:1-5; 51:5; Isaiah 6:5; Acts 17:26-31; Rom 1:19-32; 3:10-18, 23; 5:6, 12-21; 6:6; 7:14-25; 1 Cor 1:21-31; 15:19, 21-22; Col 1:21; 3:9-11; Deut. 4:1-2; II Timothy 2:15, 3:16-17; II Peter 1:20-21)

SALVATION. GOD'S ONLY WAYJesus Christ’s death and resurrection provides the only way of salvation for the forgiveness of sin. When people trust Jesus Christ as Savior, they receive salvation. Salvation is a gift from God and it cannot be earned through our own efforts. Through Christ the believer becomes a new creation whose mind and will are transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
(Matt 1:21; 22:37-38; 27:22-28:6; 28:18-20; Rom 1:16-18; 3:23-25; 5:8-10; 6; 8; 10:9-10; 13; 1 Cor 1:18; 2 Cor 5:17-20; Gal 2:20; 3:13; Eph 2:8-22; Phil 2:12-13; Heb 9:24-28; 1 John 1:6-2:11; Rev 3:20)

THE CHURCH. PLAN AThe Church is God’s chosen instrument sent by the Holy Spirit to accomplish His mission to rescue lost people. We believe in the local church and the instruction of the Bible to all Christ followers to associate themselves in a visible, local church. Members of the local church are to be on mission with God in spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world.
(Matthew 16:15-19; 28:18-20 Rom. 10:9-10; Acts 1:8; 16:30-33; I Corinthians 6:19; 11:23-26; Galatians 3:26-28; Eph. 1:22-23; Hebrews 10:23-25; James 1:27; 2:8)

THE KINGDOM. GOD'S DREAMThe Kingdom of God (a.k.a. Kingdom of Heaven) is the realization of God’s perfect design and plan for humanity and the world around it. It broke into our world with the arrival of Jesus, is “here but not yet,” brings healing and restoration to a lost and broken world, and is made known through God’s chosen instrument, the Church. We believe God has invited us, His followers, to join Him in this work of renewal on earth, to partner with our Creator to see the Kingdom made reality in our world, and to one day see the Messiah, King Jesus, seated on the throne. In the Kingdom, the last are made first and the first are made last, it is very truly an upside-down reality. The signs of His kingdom coming are salvation, joy, peace, justice, God’s presence, belonging, and healing.
(1 Chronicles 29:11; Zechariah 14:9; Matthew 4:17; Matthew 5:10; Matthew 5:19; Matthew 6:9-10; Matthew 6:33; Matthew 16:19; Matthew 19:14; Mark 1:15; Luke 10:9; Luke 12:32; John 3:3; Colossians 1:13-14; Revelation 21:5)

NONESSENTIALS. IN ALL THINGS CHARITYWe affirm that the doctrines of the Trinity, the deity of Christ, the bodily resurrection, the atoning work of Christ on the cross, and salvation by grace through faith make up the essential, distinctive nature of Christianity. We acknowledge that there are peripheral, nonessential doctrines that are important to fellow believers but may not be critical to salvation. While Breakthrough Church may hold positions on these nonessentials, we will not allow these doctrines to cause division within the church. We will accept into our body those who have differing views on the nonessential doctrines but will not allow those of a different opinion to fracture the church.
